More pleasure in the Pleasure Temple

I can already foresee an increasing number of comments on this post. Who knows why?
Maybe it's related to twi'leks... But the real deal is inside!


I'd like to point out that each game 'room' has a lot of animations which can't be displayed in these static backgrounds. The few who tested the alpha version of SOTE's first chapter witnessed the great amount of things moving up, particularly in the streets of Worlport, Ord Mantell's main city. Today's expanded background it's just from Worlport's casino quarters.

    Just one unrelated question: Is the new engine in MF more CPU intensive than the AGS engine? If yes, is it ALOT more?

  2. It's the hardware accelerated version of MMF based on Direct 3D 9. So it isn't very CPU-demanding. After all we're talking of a point&click graphic adventure: there's nothing 3D going around, though there are lots of parallax layers, pixel shaders, alpha channels, etc.
    So, don't worry!

  3. That background setting behind the windows looks good. But didn't the name Ord Mantell remind me of a depressive, moody, dark-looking cityscape in which the criminals would roam around as in the several Star Wars games, that features that setting, that I've played? That cityscape in the screenshot looks kinda neat, and nice to me for such a sombre setting...

    Oh, and those neon lighting ARE AWESOME!!! Does the Multimedia Fusion software make it easier for you to add in lighting and effects into a picture/shot/setting? The gamma levels of those rugged, planted-over arches is brighter than in the old screenshot, but loses the sharpness of detail a bit, but it's all good, coz I know that this shot was already created back before you'd started using MMF.

  4. That background setting is based on an official painting of Worlport City published years ago on the SW Insider. And the color scheme in the whole Ord Mantell location is the exact same of the official SOTE Action Game for Nintendo 64 and PC published in 1997.
    As for the neon lights, actually MMF lets you use alpha channels and pixel shaders to create any type of light effect.

  5. Ah, yes. I have played that PC version of the SOTE game. I was lucky to have bought the large box when new, and have since kept it, as it is very rare, unlike the N64 cartridges & packages.

  6. Hola! Sono John Doom. Vi seguo da un pò di anni e sono molto contento di vedere i progressi che state facendo. Ottimo lavoro, davvero! Dai bellissimi sfondi, alle dettagliate animazioni, fino al codice senza cui sarebbe soltanto un clone di tante altre avventure grafiche xd. Volevo fare una domanda: il gioco sarà visualizzabile anche su schermi 4:3 ? Non fa niente se la grafica dovesse "dimagrire", tanto fra non molto avrò un nuovo pc widescreen. E'solo curiosità.

    sto cercando di vagliare tutte le possibilità per la visualizzazione. Comunque potendo girare in finestra senza alcun rallentamento (anzi, io lo testo sempre in finestra) non dovrebbero esserci problemi anche con un 4:3, anche perché di schermi con risoluzioni orizzontali inferiori a 1280 credo ne siano rimasti in circolazione veramente pochi.

  11. Yeah, so many years... I visit this site once in a year for a couple of years now, and every time I hope to see a release or at least a release date, the game seems to be delayed even further. New tech, new resolution... What's next? Build from scratch for a 3D? As much as I like what I've seen so far from the demo and the screenshots, this project is slowly becoming the Duke Nukem Forever for adventure games. And we all know what happened with DNF... A long time ago, in a galaxy, an SW adventure game goes far, far away... I know you guys have a lot of other things to deal with (me too), but when this game will actually see the light of the day? 1 year? 2 years? 3, 4, 5? You should have some plan you know. Well anyway, wish you good luck and hope for a sooner release!

    Well, that's true. You really don't need to be a perfectionist. Just don't worry - just compile every screenshot to look just good enough, and works well for the eyes...
